Emptiness

Sophie Gleizes

Sophie Gleizes is a PhD candidate in social anthropology at EHESS/LAS (Collège de France) in Paris, France. Her current research examines the effects of depopulation on subsistence landscapes in Bukovina (Romania/Ukraine) through more-than-human interactions and the intertwining of organic, ritual, and political temporalities. She previously worked with Forest Nenets, a Siberian reindeer-herding community, and, as a master’s student in geography at the University of Oxford, on post-war traumascapes in Sarajevo (Bosnia-Herzegovina).
