Welcome to Anastasiya Ryabchuk, British Academy CARA Fellow 2023-25

The EMPTINESS project warmly welcomes Anastasiya Ryabchuk, Associate Professor in Sociology at the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, who joined us in Jul 2023 as a British Academy CARA Fellow for two years.

With the start of full-scale Russian invasion in February 2022, Anastasiya fled Ukraine with her young daughter, and initially found refuge in France as a PAUSE Scholar-at-Risk at INALCO, Paris in 2022-23. Her research interests include homelessness, poverty and urban marginality, labour and the labour movement in post-Soviet contexts, and infrastructural vulnerabilities in frontline communities of the Donbas region.
