‘Perspectives of Place’ seminar series at COMPAS
Dace Dzenovska, EMPTINESS project PI and Associate Professor in the Anthropology of Migration, is convening this exciting weekly seminar series starting Thursday, 17 October 2024, 3.30pm-5.00pm (UK time).
There is no such thing as a generic Global North. It consists of concrete people and places, many of which can hardly be said to represent the prosperity and privilege that tend to be associated with the Global North. This series focuses on people and places in England as sites for thinking about the spatial division of labour and distribution of difference, national and transnational political imaginaries, forms of mobility and immobility, and more. Taken together, the talks will provide a textured understanding of the ‘centre’s periphery’ and invite considerations of its political futures.
The seminars will all take place in person only in The Mawby Room, Kellogg College, University of Oxford. Attendance is free, and all are welcome, but you must register in advance.
